The K-3ll replacement will align the feature AND price tiers.

The thing I don't understand is the pricing. A four camera line up should be price at something like 550/700/900/1200. And I'm not even sure if this camera is better than the K70. In some ways it is, in others it isn't. It has a grip capability, which hearkens back to the K200 as a mid range camera with a grip capability, but then the buffer and 1/6000 shutter speed seem more mid level.

Then, release it at a little over 1000 dollars price and it feels over price by at least a hundred dollars.

I don't know. Who would get this camera over either a K70 or a K3 III?
Exactly. Either they priced it wrong like Q and K-01 or maybe they're moving the entire price structure up so in next models (K-3 replacement) they can address video, buffer, frame rate and . . . AF.

I think we are in the middle of a price/range restructuring as this implies. The capability of the next premuim APSC will determine how close it can go to K-1 price....I'd expect it to be about 75-80% or so.

The KP would make a nice travel "compromise" camera... just needed GPS (whilst keeping a flash)

I think it's not a 4-tier lineup they have currently. It's a 3-tier line for APS-C, and still only 1-tier for FF.

Even if the K-1 does offer better technology than the K-3II (currently) it is a different format. It should not be seen as a step above K-3, IMO. It should be seen as a different camera system with compatible lens mounts.

I think the take-away here is the K-3II is a relative bargain at its current price, and we'll only see that once its replacement is announced.

I think it really depends on the sensor performance. I guess we'll just have to wait and see how good it really is.

I don't remember which one of the rumor forums and which page it was on, but someone posted a link to some photos of the battery grip. It had an SD card slot in it, but I'm not sure if it was 'live' or just cold storage.
Just for storage.

Nope. It has the full set of contact pins and can accept either battery.

Contact for the battery, yes, but not for the SD card, which was what the query was about.
