not finding any info on whether the KP has dual SD cards or not

Title says it all. Even Ricoh's website has no information. What's up with that?

from PC magazine of all places:

"The KP has a single UHS-I memory card slot with support for SD, SDHC, and SDXC cards."

Ergo, *NOT* a K-3ii replacement.

I don't remember which one of the rumor forums and which page it was on, but someone posted a link to some photos of the battery grip. It had an SD card slot in it, but I'm not sure if it was 'live' or just cold storage.

DPR actually states that is cold storage.. it is just a holder.

Well.. he says "Maybe more next days, but the upper class model in the line of 3 is coming up later."

'maybe' is not very confidence building to me... and 'later' could be anytime between now and that DA 12-28mm is released..

Will wait for CP+ though.. if anything, the interviews will probably shed more light on Ricoh's thinking and plan going forward..

K-70
KP
K-3ll
K-1

Presumably it means four price/feature tiers they intend to maintain. Who knows whether KP is a one-off or a permanent body style.

I'd bet the flagship APSc is a baby K-1 with the new KP tech stitched in - slotted in at $1,399.

Four lines / tiers of product - at the moment those tiers are provided as follows

(1) K-1

(2) K-3ii

(3) KP

(4) K-70

Each tier down provides less and costs less.

So the Theta isn't a camera?

The thing I don't understand is the pricing. A four camera line up should be price at something like 550/700/900/1200. And I'm not even sure if this camera is better than the K70. In some ways it is, in others it isn't. It has a grip capability, which hearkens back to the K200 as a mid range camera with a grip capability, but then the buffer and 1/6000 shutter speed seem more mid level.

Then, release it at a little over 1000 dollars price and it feels over price by at least a hundred dollars.

I don't know. Who would get this camera over either a K70 or a K3 III?

Got me there.

OK.

So how about the 645Z?

That's is both a camera and a Pentax.

But the K-3ii costs less and offers more features than the KP..
