Dove in a dead tree

Trying to make a Pigeon, I mean Mourning Dove more attractive. SOOC, KP with DA* 300, cropped in MS photo. Doves are a bit plain but annoy me by sitting in the feeder for hours.

When I was taking these, there was also a guy with Canon 1DX-something and a huge lens, hand-held. He had an air of seriousness and was sometimes confidently bursting like a machine gun, the sound of which was super impressive but the bird was not moving. Oh well, many of the same pictures to quickly fill your dual memory cards, I thought.

(But then, to his credit, he might have been trying to capture the perfect "catchlight in the eye" moment or something all day. He was there before I and my wife arrived, we left for an hour for a nice walk and came back and he was still there.)
Nice shots! Very moody looking bird.

Your pigeon is a mourning dove, and I think they're pretty, and pretty tasty when wrapped in bacon and grilled.

Beautiful light.
Thanks. That's the sort of light in which the DA 21 excels at.

Sometimes you get an army of them springing up overnight. Looks like you've got a platoon right there! Nice shot.

That's quite the collection you have there, Thagomizer! They are all good, but I really liked the silhouettey type shot with the thistley spikey plants - great background colours to that one to off-set the black silhouettes.

Thanks. That one jumped out at me with the teasel in shadow and the brightly lit autumn foliage across the river. I couldn't not shoot it!

A veritable little village of fairy houses! Good Pic!

(Sorry, but I have just come from this post: Shrooms! - PentaxForums.com. But you must admit, amazing similarity of shots - same perspective, even look like the same kind of mushrooms!)

Curious: did you also use the LCD screen and live view, as per jgnfld in the above post, or did you get down and dirty, and hunker down for the shot?

@Bruce, that is a very unusual pic, with the way the everything in the background is curving and blurred (almost in motion!), while the 3 main flowers stand out in beautiful isolation. A fascinating use of a 35mm lens.

Great shot of the springs. When I am out there in May the trail is not opened yet due to bear activity in the area.
