I thought that area was still closed for maintenance work. Great shot. You took it about 2 weeks after I was there.

(Sorry, but I have just come from this post: Shrooms! - PentaxForums.com. But you must admit, amazing similarity of shots - same perspective, even look like the same kind of mushrooms!)

Curious: did you also use the LCD screen and live view, as per jgnfld in the above post, or did you get down and dirty, and hunker down for the shot?[COLOR=Silver]

I have used the LCD screen, But you have to go deep in your knees

I have yet to try Live View - cannot imagine trying to hold the camera steady without holding it against my eye/forehead/nose whatever. But I can see you would still have to get down where the camera is.

Anyway, whatever the method, it is the result that counts, and I like the result you got here.

Great shot of the springs. When I am out there in May the trail is not opened yet due to bear activity in the area
Thanks. And speaking of bears, here's a Yellowstone Griz, shot with the KP + DA* 300:

Great shot. Closer than I would want to be. You would like me as a sidekick though because I am sure that you can outrun me.

First shots on my KP

My KP arrived late in the afternoon on a cold wet night last night so took a few photos in the kitchen. I'm a beginner. DAL 18-55 Lens

Let's make sure you don't confuse people by saying you got a new KP and a lemon!!

But I can understand your desperation to try out your new KP on SOMETHING, even though you couldn't take it out doors when you unboxed.

If that is in reference to the DA 55-300 PLM and the griz shot, the bear was photographed with the DA* 300. The PLM is a great little lens, but it's not quite DA* 300 great.

Thanks. That's a great and popular theory to have when dealing with griz, but as point of fact, the bears are smarter than that. I know of several instances when two people ran across bears: the bear whacked disabled the first person and then chased after the second person.

Thanks! Yes, the KP is not a lemon, it seems fantastic.

Both great shots, grizzly and eagle, super sharp and great colors! But I'm like gaweidert, not sure if I can get that close to a grizzly.

Below is about the most dangerous situation I allowed myself to be in. Shot with DA 55-300 PLM.

I like these peaceful nocturnal creatures. When dark, just be careful to avoid unfortunate contact as they aren't particularly fast to move.
