While waiting to shoot this:

I turned and was struck by the way the last rays of sunshine set these phragmites ablaze.

Both made during the first use of my "new to me" Bigma 50-500.

My best (in 48 hrs of ownership)

Well just got a new KP and a new DA 16-85. Now just need the weather to break, Loving both so far, My first hour outside today and the weather is miserable and this was just around the neighborhood. Looking forward to more opportunities.

Love new toys and I have two of them. Here’s a photo of one of them, taken with the second one on the KP:

It’s been interesting trying to fly it - this one isn’t that hard and I’ve been very pleased with the results. Eventually I might get good enough with it to actually take a reasonable video, but for now I’ll stick to stills.

Both of those photos were taken with the D FA 70-210 f4 lens, my other new toy.

I hope to give it a better workout tomorrow, but I was pleased with these two shots.

Then looking the opposite direction from my new campsite in Nevada:

I spent some time today seeing animals in rocks.

A dolphin?

A horse head or a knight’s horse in a chess set?

Spaceships out of Star Wars?

I was using the KP and the new DFA 70-210 f4 lens. I want to like this lens. I was delighted they came out with it as I wanted a lighter weight lens in this focal length. It’s just so awkward for me. It was front focusing at first and I may still not have it adjusted quite right (but at least it will focus at infinity now). I’m sure that’s part of it but I’m just not getting along well with it. Maybe it will grow on me if I keep using it.

Photos taken in Gold Butte National Monument, Nevada, at a spot known as “Little Finland.”

Took a road trip for a couple of weeks. Casey, IL bills itself as "Big Things in a Small Town". They boast of the world's largest in a number of categories. It was an interesting quick stop along our way. (It was snowing, so there are some small white spots in shots)

I haven't been able to get out much lately, been sick. Wednesday we had a beautiful day here, so I went to Bradley Park/Lake in Puyallup, WA. There isn't much to the lake, but it was close by. I decided to only take two lenses, my Sigma 10-20 and Pentax DA* 50-135 to use with my KP. Ended up only using the DA50-135.

On our road trip, we try each day to get out and walk somewhere. This day, we stopped at Cataract Falls near Cloverdale, IN. It was snowing (what else is new- but I'm not complaining), but we managed to get a few miles in and also get a few pictures. There is a covered bridge there as well. It was muddy, and we didn't have boots, so I didn't get the best angle on the falls.
