If you mean you're very much bound to specific usage with the DA15 I think you're right and you always have to consider field curvature. Lightweight and compactness makes it perfect for travel.

The DA*11-18 on the other hand is usable in a very much broader way, not only because it's a zoom. I'd say it delivers great - at least in nature/landscape, nighttime, architecture and interior photography ... even with the K-1 in FF mode down to 15mm (without hood) and in Square mode down to 12mm (without hood)!

KP • DA*11-18@12

In strong direct light with the sun in the frame you have to be very careful to not catch undesired flare.

Next time when I go out with tripod to photograph using the KP in strong light I'll consider taking both lenses with me again. So I could make a small flare test. Please don't expect it'll come soon. Thanks!
Ok, I do not expect it tomorrow

My impression between the two tree shots- the one by the DA 15mm seems to have a more 3-D look. As to linear distortion, like the DA 12-24mm and Sigma 10-20mm f/3.5, etc. such WA zoom lenses will have next to none in the middle of their zoom range. But liar distortion is virtually meaningless without linear subject matter or something where it will show up, not in nature scenes like these.

I was enjoying an evening walk with my wife and suddenly this big beautiful coyote showed up, probably about 10 meters down the trail. We've seen this one before but not this close, I was fascinated and scared at the same time. We were in a deadlock of sort, the coyote wouldn't move and we couldn't either. After a while I slowly stepped forward and the coyote decided to cross the trail to continue its travel.

KP and 55-300 PLM, about 3/4 crop.

Moon, Saturn, and Jupiter- with 3 moons visible. 55-300PLM, Astrotracer. I replaced the very blown out Moon with another exposure from an earlier frame... just for fun

I finally went for a walk with the camera, after more or less ignoring it for a month. I've been spending time looking at all the photos and comments about the new DFA*85 and do I ever want to buy one. It's not a lens I'd use all that much, but that doesn't matter, it's the type of lens I really admire and want.

So today I decided to use a lens that I already own, and haven't used in a long time - the DA 15 Ltd. I had forgotten just how much fun it could be.

It's not exactly a macro lens, but since it was on the camera, I thought I'd try a closeup of these little wildflowers.

It was a nice walk, glad to get out of the trailer and stretch my legs.
