Needing a break from my writing assignments for this semester, I went out on a walk to photograph some wildlife.

Good to hear from you again! Wishing I still had the FA*400 now But it would've sat dusty these last few years. Just started to get an interest in wildlife photography. Funny how things work out. I think I'll try out the DA teleconverter next as I hear good things about the 300 f/4 and that.

Do you use the battery grip on the KP? I hear it balances better with it for these long lenses.
Yes I use the grip with my KP but mainly because of the smaller battery. It’s worth having for sure. You’ll like the 300/Da teleconverter combo. I’ve been using the 400 mostly for birds.

Snappy, here's my latest bird image taken with the FA* 400 on my KP. No crop. The Least Sandpiper is the smallest of the Sandpipers (6"). It wasn't troubled by my close proximity.

Out of all my lenses I really like my macro DFA 100 2.8 WR and the (basic) 35mm DA2.4 AL. Similar to the ones I used most on my KX.
Pics are of my granddaughter (35mm - 3200, f4,1/250, set to TAV, cropped x4) and of an Azure Damselfly in garden (macro, 200, f6.3,1/250, set to AV, cropped)

Really nice. Amazing for such a small bird especially.

Here's a few from the creek the other day.

Took a few attempts but I did manage to get a reasonably clear photo @ 1/50 of a second.

Nice, you did an excellent job! I've never tried this technique, maybe it's time to do it.
