Very nice! Good location. I am missing taking pictures of the stars so far this year. Every night I get out somewhere remote enough, it is cloudy Despite trying to plan with weather apps...

Anyway. Here's some crabs on a beach. Pentax KP + DA* 300mm f4

Thanks! I know what you mean. I purchased the gps unit over year ago, every time we were staying someplace away from light pollution clouds or the moon phase would enter in. So much so I was debating selling the unused unit. This time the conditions were perfect, I put together my sega genesis expansion equivalent setup. KP + Grip + gps unit + tripod and the wait was so worth it!

Bush Cockroach, Pentax KP & Voigtlander 90mm F3.5 APO Lanthar SL with Kenko AC +5 close up filter. I took these last summer here, over xmas, and posted most of them on the Show me your insects thread at the time;

I was fond of Agfa Vista, and sorry when it started disappearing from the shelves here twenty years ago or so. Looking at the light around me, and photos shared here and elsewhere, I am also starting to come round to the warmer tones of some of the Kodak films. I am quite happy with the rendering I am getting from the KP . All other things given it seems true to life, and well balanced.

So not so much a best shot but a little bit of photographic history. Don McCullin's Nikon F which stopped a bullet, hole just visible on the right of the pentaprism. There's a current exhibition of some of his best known work at the Tate Liverpool. Well worth going to see, especially if you've never seen masterfully printed silver halide prints.

The Big Butterfly Count

The keeper rate is not high with such a slow lens. I miss the focus on more than half.

Focus confirmation is all you have to go on. Everything is moving - grass, insect and you. But when it comes together....
