Looks like we were there about a week apart. My wife and I were there during the last week of August. Had a great time.

I was at Yellowstone first week of September, and it was a good thing too, as the following weeks it got rather cold — in the twenties at night. Not good for camping.

Here's a popular Yellowstone critter giving me the stinkeye, shot with the DA 55-300 PLM:

Lovely, gentle pictures of old Munich. Glad you used the M 50 1.7.

Thank you!

I use my M1.7/50 since more than 35 years with different cameras now. Bought it with my ME Super and still love it.

Great horned owl, DA 55-300 PLM.

Yellow, piercing eyes by k kwb, on Flickr

When I was taking these, there was also a guy with Canon 1DX-something and a huge lens, hand-held. He had an air of seriousness and was sometimes confidently bursting like a machine gun, the sound of which was super impressive but the bird was not moving. Oh well, many of the same pictures to quickly fill your dual memory cards, I thought.

(But then, to his credit, he might have been trying to capture the perfect "catchlight in the eye" moment or something all day. He was there before I and my wife arrived, we left for an hour for a nice walk and came back and he was still there.)
