Quick test of my Sigma 70-200mm HSM II with outdoor portrait. Looking good. Very little PP.

The Baltimore oriole is rare visitor around here.
DA 300* through 2 panes of glass, cropped.

I made a little feeder with apricot preserves for him, he was wet from morning rain.

My one image of an Oriole was taken with my K-100D and Sigma 70-700 and it's soft as can be. I'm hoping I get another chance with abetter lens and camera.

The crazy thing is he came May 1st, 2 years to the day after a rose-breasted grosbeak stopped by my feeders.
It was a first sighting of both, and the grosbeak was only seen once, but the oriole is sticking around.
Two friends are getting orioles at their feeders, not sure what's going on around here.

It is impossible to figure out what goes on in the minds of birds. You put out 150 pounds of black oil sunflower seeds over a week for a flock of 300 Pine Siskin, and they don't leave a thank you card, they don't write, they don't come back the next year. That's the way it is with birds.

I'll hang around, rain or shine, as long as you keep feeding me.

Orioles.
Heavy crops on the first two, slight on the other two.

After my first K3 packed it in for the second time last month I went and bought a KP and couldn't be happier. Here are a few bird shots: All are ISO 1600 with the 300* f:4 plus 1.4 TC. All are at lest 50% cropped.

Just got this lens today in the mail from a forum member, and i thank him from the bottom of my heart.

Test jpeg shot with the 77mm Limited. All processing done in the camera. Just resized it to pentaxforums album limits.

Heinrich,

Nice shots! Do you know whether these print at a 13x19" size with the feathering detail clean (not smudged)? It looks as though they might.
