Starting to edit from my trip to Napa and Sonoma last week. I actually took my DSLR with me and it wasn't as bad as I feared it would be! I normally loathe the idea of lugging a giant camera around on vacation and have it in my head that it overly complicates the day and trip. Anyway, it poured rain most of the trip so I was glad to have a Pentax.

I haven't edited a ton of files from this camera yet, but from what I've seen they are spectacular and I'm more and more amazed each time I start moving sliders.

Pentax KP, HD DA 20-40mm f2.8-4 Limited, on the road to Stags Leap. Color or B&W? Other critique welcome as well.

I like the color version.

Funny, I prefer the B/W! I like the contrast in the rows, particularly. Nice leading lines.

I'm partial to the B&W, too, although the yellow flowers are really interesting. The geometries are stronger in the B&W image. The KP with the 20-40 is pretty light and compact. That has been my go to combo on a cross-shoulder strap.

Superb image - great colours and composition. I like the processing too. Looks like you've added some vignetting - that was inspired I think.

A marriage made in heaven.

B&W. The strength of the image is in the shapes and lines and contrasting "textures" - the monochrome brings them out well. The colours don't stand out because of the dull conditions.

Seeing these side by side makes me think I should do more B&W conversions.

As light as the 20-40 and KP combo is, I really wish the DA 21mm Limited was weather sealed. Combined with a Peak Design strap the camera is very easy to carry.

Some color work.

KP shots

Here are a couple of shots I took when testing out the KP after it arrived. The clock picture is an unedited JPEG taken with the HD 35mm 2.8 Macro Limited, at 12,800 ISO! (f/4.5, 1/60).
The colored block wall is a JPEG that I cropped and did a one-click "enhancement" on Windows Photo, taken with the SMC DA 50mm 1.8, ISO 100, f/3.5, 1/200.
This is a very good camera even for an amateur like me.

The high ISO capabilities, and the KP in general, are amazing.

Here's a shot at 51,200. First with no NR, then with built-in NR, and finally with DXO Photolab Prime NR.
