Great shots!

WRT autofocus if you haven't looked into it yet I'd encourage you to try back button focus and centre spot only, with this combination I've found my KP always nails it.
The autofocus in general is actually pretty impressive. I was doing some testing of AF.C a couple weeks back with my 90mm tamron with my dad coming towards me erratically on a bike, and out of the series of 7, 2 were out of focus. Not too shabby considering I know I messed up my technique.

Nice shots. The KP holds its fame as one of the best cameras for low light high ISO shots. Thanks for sharing

You guys have busted cameras.
You are also doing it all wrong!!! You can't take pictures of BIFs!!! Send your cameras back for repair.
You're both defying the rule that Pentax can't shoot action shots!!!

Nice shots by the way. Thanks for sharing.

After looking at the bird photos, I hesitate to post this. But it was an interesting exercise, I forget just how much fun macro can be. And it’s only the second time I’ve really used Helicon Focus since purchasing it months ago.

Palo Verde Tree Leaves, KP and DFA 100 macro, focus at 1:1 and using macro rails to “step” the focus point, then rendered with Helicon Focus.

I had never quite noticed that the trees actually have leaves, always saw just the twigs and green bark.

Two exceptional shots - very sharp. Is that the original background, or have you processed it?

Thankyou.....Thats the original background.... these flowers are in our yard.... I take up a position so the darkish wall of the house next door is the back drop.... making sure a plain bit of wall is behind..... no pipes etc..... wait for the honey eaters to feed on the best isolated flowers.... then use lightroom to lower the shadows a bit and add a bit of vignette. Normally the best shots are had about a week ago when the flowers were at their best..... if a flower is a standout then maybe worth pruning some clear space around it.... unless disturbed the birds basically visit each flower.

About as lazy as bird photography gets.... I'm a natural!

Thanks!
Ho ho! Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately, it doesn't help me. Love gardens, totally too lazy to develop/maintain my own, so I am always shooting birds in an environment where I have no control over surrounding plant life, or choice of background, other than walking around to find the best shot and hope the damned bird stays there long enough!!!

Again, love your two shots of this bird, which I saw (and photographed) for the first time in November/December 2019.

Yeah I get that..... much the same here. For what it is worth..... lots of birds tend to have a fixed pattern of behaviour.... especially those feeding on flowering plants.... these ones have a final end of day pattern of behaviour..... dropping in on these plants about 30 minutes before sunset as part of their evening meal before retiring.

This is from a couple of years ago... K1 image with DFA 150-450.... fresher flower and better light.... and off course I jagged the intense stare.
