Yeah I get that..... much the same here. For what it is worth..... lots of birds tend to have a fixed pattern of behaviour.... especially those feeding on flowering plants.... these ones have a final end of day pattern of behaviour..... dropping in on these plants about 30 minutes before sunset as part of their evening meal before retiring.

This is from a couple of years ago... K1 image with DFA 150-450.... fresher flower and better light.... and off course I jagged the intense stare.
Love that Stare!!

Yes, I have certainly observed some "predictable" behaviour patterns with the local birds. Even dragonflies - even when you startle them off a particular twig, if you wait, they will often come back to the same perch. That 150-450 lens shot is very good - -would love to be able to afford that lens.

EDIT: By the way, the flowers in these shots of yours are also very attactive.

I have just posted one of my shots of this bird I took in December just gone, if you are interested. Clicking on the image will take you to 3 shots taken close together:

I went for a walk with my wife to enjoy what I felt like the first sunny weekend since forever. KP and 55-300 PLM at 300mm, F/6.3, ISO 800, AF-S, center focus point.
I was shooting the bird while it was on a tree branch, but it took off, I managed to follow, refocus and trigger. This was roughly 1FPS and I took 3 shots shown in chronological order. I wasn't expecting much but was surprised to find that I liked the first one.

Man, such excellent images here. Damn good photography, but also speaking to how excellent is the KP.

I’m certainly loving mine to bits. I got this yesterday, using my Plastic Fantastic DA 35/2.4 on my KP, shooting a bumblebee:

Bumbling Bee by -Occasionally Focused-

I’m very very pleased. There’s a little crop but not too much, and the resolution of the KP has certainly meant it suffered not at all for the crop.

Nice shots. The KP holds its fame as one of the best cameras for low light high ISO shots. Thanks for sharing
Thanks!
However, they are all in ISO100

A local resident checking out the newcomers (me) to the neighborhood.

I liked his markings.

And a pretty sunset reflected in my home’s window.

The lizard photos were taken with the DA300 and DA1.4 TC. The sunset with the DA16-85, which is on the camera most of the time. I had trouble with most of the lizard photos - I was hand-holding which is a bit of a reach for me. Most of the photos I took have the focus just behind the lizard’s head, on the neck or the back rather than the face. I think it was because of my technique or possibility because the focus point is fairly large, though it’s possible the combination is back-focusing slightly. I need a better subject than a desert lizard sunning itself on a fire-ring rock to tell. These were the best, the first one is significantly cropped.

and a couple with the Vivitar 100/2.8 macro. Both at ISO 5000, de-noised in DXO but really didn't need it.

Both those shots are very good, but like you, I like the first one especially. Most BIF shots have some wing extension, but the first one caught the bird with its wings to its body, as if it is doing a horizontal dive. The first thought I had when seeing that shot was "Like a bullet!"

Great shooting!
