Yep. Last August, in Alaska

Outstanding. I ordered my Pentax KP (amateur portrait and nature/macro photography) and can't wait to lay my hands on it!

Have you shoot any portraits with your KP?

Any good lens is still good on the KP.
But since you asked, the DA and FA Limiteds certainly shine, and the DA10-17, DA* 11-18 and DFA150-450 make my list as well.
I just found them on your Flickr

Where was the second one taken? I love it! Looks like a place to visit if I ever manage to get up there again, and if it’s not too far off the beaten track.
You'll need to put your hiking boots on.
Both were taken on a 13km walk from sea level at Skagway Alaska to an altitude of about 1200m and back. The first photo is looking back down toward the Upper Dewey Lake. The second is from roughly the high point of the hike, looking southwest over the Devil's Punchbowl.

OK, I guess you were following one of the gold mining trails? It’s beautiful there, but I’d rather drive out of Skagway than hike out of it. That’s quite a climb. I don’t remember if I ever looked at what the grade is going out, but it’s anything but flat! Pretty location all the same and I LOVE your photo!

Wow, Sandy, those are great shots.

Love the shot of everyone taking shots of the penguin! Like the little feller was putting on a show for everyone.

And that shot of the mist-shrouded mountain rising out of the sea, with a small sheet of ice in the foreground is superb.

Great views with those high shots looking down on the lake. Must be one hell of an experience to have under your belt.

Here is a recent pic of our little dog, Pennie. She is very difficult to get a portrait of. She will stay perfectly steady until I point the camera at her, then she will either turn her head or just walk off. I got this one by holding a bite of apple in front of her.
Taken with KP & DA 55mm 1.4 lens, 1/15 at F5, iso 800

On my weekend morning walk with the dog, the weather was glorious today. I had my KP with the Tamron 90mm slung over my shoulder "just in case". I'm still getting the hang of the KP and out of habit, I shot this extreme DR image as a 5-shot composite in raw, finishing it off in LuminanceHDR and Gimp.

On my way back I always come across this treetrunk which is completely covered in tiny fungii, some 2 cms in size. Having the macro mounted this time I shot a few of the wonderfully multicolored ringed top.

When I shot up from under one, I noticed this tiny insect walking around.
