It rained day before yesterday and while I was out taking pictures of the stream by my site (normally a dry wash) I noticed some flowers and little things starting to grow. That’s always a good excuse to pull out the macro lens and try for some raindrops on some of the local plants. I’m not a botanist and so have no idea what anything is.
These were hand-held and it’s been a long time since I’ve tried to shoot macro this way.
Yesterday I pulled out the tripod and macro rails and took a couple of series of photos, walking the focus, then merged them with Helicon Focus. I bought the program last summer at the urging of a friend of mine, but have hardly used it at all. I don’t yet understand the controls but thought that this one came out reasonably well.
All these were taken with the DFA 100mm Macro - I like the lens. I also figured out that trying to take macro photos here in the afternoons is futile - the wind picks up and makes it difficult to keep something very small in the viewfinder.
It’s been fun getting out with the camera again, I have the time now to explore my surroundings with a camera, something I haven’t done much of in the past couple of years.
