Sunset in rural America

In the winter and early spring, it's easy to find time to get out and shoot. This time of year, there is so much work to be done with mowing, gardening and landscaping, I find myself not grabbing the KP as often. I'm thankful for those of you who keep this thread full of great photos. I did manage to get this sunset shot the other night.

African Fisg Eagle with KP DA*300 F4 and 1.4 AW TC. It go to wildlife or long lenses, but the star here is the KP. I had to handhold at dusk and the image at ISO 1600 just needed little noise reduction in LR4. I wouldn't have been able to catch this shot with my K5

Spring is here for good (I hope). My allergies agree as well. Our flowering crab apple is in bloom.

The KP has been somewhat of a frustrating camera for me. It's different enough from my old K-30 that it's not nearly as intuitive to use for me (yet), and the rear screen is garbage for showing anything but if you got your composition right, and I still haven't quite figured out how to use the third wheel consistently, and it's awkward with a longer lens or a flash since its so small...

...but hot damn it's got a great sensor, great AF, and gives great files.

A couple from March, before the mosquitoes emerged and the snow melted... KP and 55-300 PLM

Nice pictures, skierd!

Btw, for KP. Two ordinary rollers are enough for my photo-needs. I am pretty satisfied with the third wheel - C1, C2 and C3 are LCD DISPLAY OPTIONS, OUTDOOR VIEW SETTING and FOCUS PEAKING ... so I use it mainly for fast change on the rear display. Check what LCD DISPLAY OPTIONS does in various modes (playbeck, lv etc.) This I found very useful and KP is the only camera which can do this.

I leave my Third wheel set at C2 allocated to AF Active area then I can easily toggle between Spot and 27 Auto depending on subject.

Just a remark - AF MODE + the rear roller does have the same functionality ... so you can free C2 for something else

In TAv mode I keep the rear wheel for Aperture, front for Shutter speed, that works for me but each to their own.

Regardless of which (Av, Tv, TAv) mode you use, AF MODE button (on the left side above the AF/MF switch) + the rear roller changes AF active area ...

I'm not a huge fan of the thumb dial on either the KP or K-1, they just end up being ISO really (and I ignore the ISO button pretty much). I too might toggle to C1,2 and 3 and change lcd brightness and stuff, but 90% of the time its just ISO.
