Butcherbirds are insect eaters for the most part, but will also feed on small lizards and other vertebrates. They get their name from their habit of impaling captured prey on a thorn, tree fork, or crevice."

oof...
Haha, I start wondering and in no time it's demystified!

Dingo

Spotted on our street. We have had mail from National Parks alerting us to their increasing presence from within Glenbrook National Park.

Red shouldered blackbird, just before taking off. With 55-300 PLM.

Taking off! by k kwb, on Flickr

Also attached is something I rescued from my non-keeper bin of the day, and 1:1 crop around the kestrel.
It's much tinier than I'd have liked but I was glad that the KP+PLM AF didn't fail me and it was usable for ID purpose.

I think I would be packing up and leaving with skies that look like that. Nice photo, but those skies are downright scary.

It ended with a little rain

A couple of photos from 2 different days, at the Painted Desert/Petrified Forest National Park. The first day, less than a week after it re-opened, I was almost alone.

Yesterday it was far more crowded, and I didn't bother stopping at the second place I was going to check out. It still amazes me to see what appears to be wood on the outside, then realize it is actually stone.

I had an occasion to use the HDR ADV mode on the KP. I ran it through Affinity photo as LR doesn't seem the handle KP HDR DNG files well.

That’s cool - I haven’t tried to use any of the in-camera HDR modes yet (I didn’t like the results on a previous camera, and haven’t tried since). I like this result. Might have to give it a try.

What a cool shot. Nicely framed and processed. A wall hanger!

An impromptu rural landscape, taken with the DA 10-17 fisheye zoom, zoomed out to 17mm where it has the classic FOV of an old-fashioned analog 24mm lens.

In Afrikaans they are called a 'laksman', executioner and some species even have a black hood and the do impale their prey on thorns and barbed wire
