Lazuli bunting (?) by k kwb, on Flickr

The Beaverdom: Rise and Fall by k kwb, on Flickr

The second one is before/after comparison of a beaver dam nearby.
Beavers (two pictured in the top panel, one at the center and the other at the left edge though blurred) were making their dam bigger over the spring. Last month I stood close to the flooded part of the path to take the top picture. The trail on the other side of the creek was also almost flooded, it's close to some houses, and some large trees by the trail fell because of beavers. Two days later I and my wife went back to see how beavers were doing, only to find that somebody (the City?) breached the dam. I feel a bit sorry for beavers but I guess this had to be done. They'll be fine, they've been fine before they made the dam this big.

Took an early morning walk on a grayish day, alongside the local southern Oregon railroad tracks. This concrete pipe seemed to hold the promise of a hidden inner mystery...

(Taken with the DA 10-17 zoom, on the fish-eye end)

A Port in the Storm

A couple of weeks ago, the sun came out after a rain storm. I went outside hoping for a rainbow, but only found this port in the storm
