I got the "Drops and Spills" warranty from Amazon with mine. worked out to about $1 a month for 4 years. Just have to skip one MickyD's coffee every 30 days to make up for it ......lol
That sounds like a good deal. Mine was theoretically covered by house and contents insurance but the excess was more than the cost of the lens.

Enjoy the PLM - it's an excellent lens for what it is. The only note of caution I would add is that its lightweight construction makes it easy to break: What to avoid with your 55-300 PLM lens! - PentaxForums.com
Thanks. I know that this lens is kind of fragile, this is what is paid for this price.

I second that, he's a very good tog that showcases what lenses can do in the right hands.

Speaking of which, here's another 55-300PLM shot;

Tweet Tuesday!

Oh god... it's happened hasn't it... I've slipped into being a 'bird shooter'. Urgh... I need an intervention.

I think this is a Thornbill... Yellow or Rumped... I shouldn't really care anymore..

HA I felt the same way when I got my KP with a PLM.
Then it hit that birding is actually kind of enjoyable when you get that shot of something that just fidgets around all the time, you have to be lucky or quick or quick and lucky. Been trying to get a shot of the Anna's and Calliope hummingbirds around here, or even the several pairs of bald eagles but they all seem to know when I have or don't have my camera.

Been trying to bring these guys to the yard for weeks.
Changed feeder and changed up the feed, they have been swarming this morning.

While not the most clear on the noise front I cranked the shutter speed up to get the wings clearly. Not sure which of three species of hummers that are in the area but happy none the less.

The best from today. Got to revive an old favorite lens with my new KP.
