Winter Fun with the KP

A few images from earlier this winter (in January before the bottom dropped out and Minnesota's climate resembled Antartica). No filters used, shot with the SMC-FA 20-35mm f4.0 or Sigma EX 10-20 f3.5.
The KP works well in colder temps, as long as you keep the batteries warm and pop them in when you're ready to shoot. I've been working on my PP flow, hope these appear more natural. Stay warm, my friends.

Still scratting about my local coast. This is taken from Little Eye, WIrral, UK, heading to Hilbre Island. DA 20-40 F9.5. One of those times I'm left wondering about the DA 15mm. Could have done with a lightly wider view without stepping backwards into a big pool of water. Also notable for my first meaningful use of the flippy screen.
Nicely done. I like the moody feel to this image.

Thanks, I just happened to get lucky with the light, a few seconds either side and that image was a lot flatter. I'd bent down to examine the rocks in the foreground, there was literally no time to re-compose, sometimes things just come together at the right moment, though I'm left wondering if just a slight shift in composition might have improved things, I'll just have to go back!

Those Groynes again. I go past these at least 3 times a week on my dog walk. Don't think I've managed this angle before as it's normally quite muddy around them but the tide changes the sands all the time. Taken on the da 20-40 Ltd 20mm f6.7. Fair bit of purple and green fringing to deal with this on this one and the shadows and sky were even beyond the dynamic range of the KP so I went for the silhouette approach.

Soon we will be released from Lockdown and I will be free once again to not go anywhere anyway, still, it's the being able to that counts right?
The lockdowns threw a giant ugly monkey wrench into our plans here also, why so many of my photos as of late are one of four places ad nauseam. It does make it difficult to motivate to grab the camera and go, or just what is out the front door.

The extended battery and grip also help.

It was a warm night, I typically find it hard to get quality sleep during the summer months. After hearing the rumblings of distant thunder at 2 AM I threw on some clothes, selected a pair of tripods, packed my K-1 and KP into a small bag and walked out to see if I could get a good image of one of the most dangerous and unpredictable subjects in photography.

This is what I got on the Pentax KP

Pentax KP- ISO 200 1'30s f/8 Sigma 8-16mm f/4.5-5.6 @ 16mm [slight crop] hand blended composite image.

Utterly superb!

Utterly jealous, except the snow... I know it's a trade off.

Just a quick shot of an old front end that's been sitting here since long before we bought our place 35 years ago. Car? Truck? Tractor? I have no idea. I can read "Chicago" stamped into one small part, but not the name of the company. Have thought of removing this to the metals bin at the dump, but kind of like seeing it when I walk by. KP with 15 Ltd, f/4, 1/40, 100 ISO.
Very basic axle and wheels. I would say it is off a utility trailer.
