Thanks Des! Yes the names certainly are unique... the canyon is named after the 20-mule teams that were used to move borax which was processed near the mine itself out of Death Valley to the nearest rail spur between 1883 and 1889. They did this in 120+ degree (F) heat! As for the Funeral Mountains, they get their name from debris flows that accumulated along the range's base. To some observers, the flows resembled bands of crêpe once worn to signify mourning. That was actually new to me until I looked it up!
