My bahtinov mask for the Pentax 150-450 arrived today. Seems to have solved the focus problem.
Jupiter and Saturn, much cropped using the KP and 150-450 lens at 450 plus 1.4x Pentax converter.

I'll give it a try tomorrow with the other mask I bought for the 645* 600mm and 2x; On the KP and a Q.
Nice shot of Saturn.

Is that flare or are they moons? Just 3D printed a Bahtinov filter for the 150-450 and to try it out pointed it at the brightest star in the sky I could see at 6:40pm UK time (guessing Jupiter?) and took this (150 - 450 + 1.4TC on the KP). Other than cropping, it is as it came from the camera. Edit - After reading a bit about Jupiter it looks like they may be the four Galilean moons.

Now I know which one Jupiter is had a go at shooting at what I thought was Saturn which failed so took a quick snap of Jupiter (single shot). Moons easily visible but meant Jupiter over exposed. Turning it down so you could get some definition of Jupiter I lost the moons. But given a shot in the middle of the street with lights everywhere happy I could see some colour. KP D FA150-450 @450 with TC 1.4.

Wyoming life

My wife and I have just recently moved to NE Wyoming and still getting used to the local wildlife. We don't have to go far, just out the back door (sometimes the front door).

These were taken with the DA 50-135 on my KP. I am shopping for a longer lens. I might have to go further than my backyard.

The DA* 50-135 is no slouch and you are showing it off well. Great series.

Here is a recent similar shot(see post #3465) of Jupiter and its 4 Galilean moons. Have to "over expose" to get the moons; so next picture is as good as I can do of a more correctly exposed Jupiter with the 150-450 and 1.7x converter on my KP.

Although it was a hazy night, these turned out pretty well using a bhatinov mask for focus. All are really significant crops from the original view.
EXIF says 800 manually entered, as it is the closest choice to 450x1.7= 765mm by calculation.

Third is Saturn on the same night , same rig.

I am no astro-photographer barely a land based one, but I do find it enjoyable trying to get a shot (read that as a snap) of the stars and planets. Saturn is on my to do list and I will be very happy if I can match yours and see the rings.
