I honestly don't know what it is with the raw files out of the KP. Does the sensor hold detail thàt much better then my K-70 (and K-5 IIs before it) used to do? Have I gotten better in raw conversion, has Darktable suddenly made a giant leap in functionality? Or am I aging with grace as I'm inching closer to my 65th birthday? Let's say some sort of combination of all of those things and more.
I feel confident walking the beach with my dog in gusting winds which blow foam, sand and spray over me and the camera. Some rain and I thought even a bit of sleet a few times though it is still early for that. The DA16-85mm holds its own and while I see people around me frantically trying to protect their gear against the elements, the dog and I carry on as usual. I let camera and lens dry out thoroughly at home, then used a soft paintbrush to remove the few grains of sand still sticking to them.
I shot various techniques, into the sun with a lot of exposure correction walking south along the Northsea beach, a few bracketed exposures treated to exposure merging and a few shots just trusting the Av settings with auto-ISO facing west or north away from the sun. Everything came out the way I wanted. This camera just feels great and it hasn't let me down even once in the year and a half I own it. Only fiddly thing is battery life but I carry a few spares at all times.
