Pentax KP + Pentax DA 18-270

Nice shots of the GW Bridge. The one with the old lighthouse is very special, combining different eras.

Some crazy, and for a change, quite artistic modern architecture. Nice composition too.

KP with Sigma 17-50mm 1:28 EX HSM. Recently started merging panoramas, works so nice. Here is one of my recent hike along the Virgin River in Zion National Park. Love the KP's versatility!!
Beautiful results. I sure agree, the KP might well be the most versatile APS-C DSLR ever! You say it was with the Sigma 17-50mm f/2.8 EX HSM. I have this lens also, and likewise am very happy with its excellent imaging and all-around great performance and design. It has been one of the best bargains out there. However, the EXIF shows the shot is with the Pentax DA 20-40mm Limited! Maybe 2 shots stitched, using both lenses?

As a Turton myself, I'm very excited to see these shots of a place I never knew existed!
The creek and falls were named after William Turton, an eminent surveyor. He arrived in the colony of Victoria with his wife Harriet in 1856, at the age of 28 (presumably from England, but I don't know which part). His survey of what was then a very remote place led to a short-lived rush for alluvial gold in Turton's Creek in 1872-3. But his most enduring legacy was being one of the party who surveyed the Black-Allan line, the straight line part of the boundary between New South Wales and Victoria, in 1870-2. That was an epic project through very wild and rugged country (https://www.abc.net.au/radionational/programs/the-history-listen/black-allan-line/9836566). Turton and Alexander Allan were the Victorian representatives; Alexander Black was the NSW representative. If you happen to be related to Turton, it's quite a distinction.

Fascinating! Thank you for the information. Turton is quite an unusual surname and relates to a place near Bolton in the north of England which has a Norman castle so is quite well established.

They are remarkable and not just because they are exceptionally cute. All marsupials are remarkable, for one thing. It's actually a great strategy to raise the young in a pouch - doesn't take up all that internal space for an embryo to develop and allows the young a more gradual transition. And the koala's particular superpower is digestion. To survive on a diet of eucalyptus leaves - full of toxins and with meagre nutrients - requires a special digestive system and a slow metabolism (they rest and sleep for 18-22 hours/day). I could go on ... but more interesting facts here: https://www.savethekoala.com/about-koalas/interesting-facts/

Once abundant, koalas are now endangered, especially the northern koalas in New South Wales and Queensland. Koalas were decimated by hunting (for fur) until the 1920s and continue to suffer from habitat loss (land clearing, logging, fragmentation, urbanisation and severe and frequent bushfilres). The numbers of southern koalas in Victoria and South Australia have recovered (in fact there are excessive and unsustainable concentrations in some areas), but mostly with highly inbred animals descended from a handful relocated to islands in the 1920s. The only really intact indigenous population of southern koalas is the Strzelecki koala in our area, South Gippsland in southern Victoria (The Significance of the Strzelecki Koala - Friends of the Earth Melbourne). There are lots of community efforts to save the Strzelecki koala, but unfortunately governments are doing little to conserve them (particularly by allowing continued heavy logging of native forests). There may be only 1500-2000 Strzelecki koalas left.

So, while all koalas are special, the girl in this photo is particularly so!
