Pentax KP performance results posted on imaging-resource.com

Some interesting data is here:
Pentax KP Review: First Shots - Performance

I am not familiar with their testing methodology but that looks promising:

The Pentax KP's full autofocus shutter lag when shooting the same target multiple times was much faster than average for a prosumer DSLR when using the optical viewfinder.

They are also having interesting conclusion:

Bottom line, the Pentax KP's performance was mixed for its class, ranging from very fast for autofocus speeds, cycle times, burst speeds and flash recycling to slow startup time, shallow RAW buffer depths and sluggish buffer clearing times.

All AF timing measured with a Pentax 35mm f/2.8 lens
Probably the DA Limited 35 f2.8 - a great lens, but screw drive AND a macro lens with long throw. Still does pretty fast AF, but IR could probably get faster AF results with some other Pentax lenses.

Well, if it is the 35mm Limited Macro then we can expect a lot faster performances. Testing AF speed with a macro lens is actually rather strange then again, a 35mm macro is unusual as well!

Nothing scientific but my KP and 20-40 are VERY quick!

This is just a preliminary hands-on review. That said, it does show some good AF efficiency form the KP, especially if a macro lens was used. There will be a much more detailed test review forthcoming, including lab test shots and extensive field use. If a camera model is sold with a standard kit lens, they usually take that for field shots. Since the KP is not sold with a standard kit lens as far as I know, it should be interesting to see what lens or lenses will be used.

Pentax screwdrive is usually faster than DC and SDM. I don't think that they use DA35 in macro mode.

"To minimize the effect of different lens' focusing speed, we test AF-active shutter lag with the lens already set to the correct focal distance."
So they're not actually measuring AF speed but lag.

True, I am curious to see what they use to test for a lens too. Hopefully the 20-40 Limited or 16-85.
