It looks like someone is offering customization for the KP., not a new camera.

1) Big red grip
2) Red dot on on/off button
3) Bigger eye cup
Anything else? Looks kind of cool, not sure what its purpose is. Would be interesting to read a good translation of that article

Saw that on the Ricoh Imaging Facebook feed this morning. I think they're just trying to show off how you can make a KP slightly different.

The red dot on the on/off button kind of breaks up the monotony. I always thought a wooden grip for the KP would be kind of cool, stained dark, with a glossy clear over it. I kind of hope they do the exchangeable grip again on the replacement for the K-3 II.

I think this is just a one-off custom built version of the KP. It says that it was done by the K-30 designer, which you can see in the styling a bit.

That aggressive flash overhang must be the stuff of nightmares for Sigma lens users.

Agree, seems to be a showcase for possible modifications.
I like the shutter button, less the flash/prism housing. Is later an indication that it isn't homemade?

@JPT, thanks, okay, an “inhouse“ modification.

I rather like it - the shade of red ties in well with the the DA Ltd lenses too - they Pentax said the KP was designed for them... that flash cover is odd though - I can't see any reason for that cosmetic only remodelling - not even to write Pentax on the side of it

I always wondered when we can get 3rd party grips (other than standard S/M/L). At last seeing one.

Yes, me too. Unfortunately aftermarket industry also doesn't seem to be quick here.
And even more unfortunate maybe, that there are no contacts below the grip, for example just to add one with a small battery...

Someone could engineer a grip that extends down to the bottom plate and attaches to the camera electrically like a battery grip...

A mini-battery grip! A concept whose time has come. How about a powered grip that extends across the camera base and which includes provision to heat the body then temperatures dip below operating range?

The flash housing is intriguing. The huge overhang is obviously impractical, but it seems to be integrated with some form of body armor.
