KP shutter release ... Wired and Wireless options that work ! (Updated #3 option)

#1.....Just received my JJC wired remote shutter release. MA Series Replaces the CS-310. Works on K-70 and KP.

MA-PK-1 Remote Switch amazon.com : JJC MA-PK1 Two stage release button remote Control PENTAX CS-310 For Pentax K70 : Camera & Photo?tag=pentaxforums-20&

This little wired remote from Amazon costs about $8 shipped and I received it in 7 days.
Plugged it into my KP and it Works ! Half shutter press focus , full press Shutter release , and Bulb......Perfect !
I simply couldn't ask for more.

#2.....Also ordered the Wireless Remote with transmitter JM-II. It also replaces the CS-310. Works on K-70 and KP.

JM-PK1(II) Wireless Remote controller Amazon.com : JJC JM-PK1 II Wireless Shutter Release For PENTAX K-70 K70 replace PENTAX CS-310 With A&R Cleaning cloth : Camera & Photo

This very small Wireless controller had one review on Amazon that said it didn't work on the KP and was Junk. However I decided to try it anyway and it works wonderful !
I paid $23 shipped and received it in 7 days.
It has bulb , single shot , continuous, self timer. Half press works just like the shutter button. I tested it from at least 40' and it worked perfect.
It has a power ON light and a separate Confirmation light when shutter is actuated , and flickers when timer is activated. I find that a nice feature.
Comes with both batteries and a 1 year warranty.
Im very happy with both my JJC items and.... YES.....They work fine on the KP !

#3......Adapter 2.5mm to 3.5mm

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00T0ROWE4/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I bought this adapter to allow using my regular wired shutter release or Vello FreeWave wireless release on the KP.
****IT DOES NOT WORK***** using this adapter. I suspect its a 4 contact on the 2.5mm side , or somehow the contact pin isn't correct on the female side.

The KP has no IR port and this is a super easy workaround.
Im a Happy Camper now this is solved...
Just thought I would pass this on...

Thanks for the review Ronald, very useful as my brother had enquired about something like this for his KP.

Thanks Ron, I kind of wish I had had this instead of my wired remote on my trip earlier this month.

I would also buy some wireless ( or maybe even wire ) thirdpart shutter release unit.
-
But, I wonder how it works...

For example the second one - JJC-JMPK-1 II,... Does the second part of unit must be placed in hot shoe, or it can be also connected with cable... to trigger the shutter.
--
I'm asking this because I photograph products sometimes, and often I have mounted in my hot shoe radio flash trigger, so it would be ideal - that wi-fi shutter release unit can be connected with cable to the camera

I got very disappointed finding out that my wire from K5 does not work with KP. Nevertheless - do you have by chance several adapters to test? I had and issue with Focusrite, where several adapters had tiny differences in contacts spacing, thus not working.

The hotshoe mount is only that....a mounting place. What mounts in the hotshoe is the receiver. I suppose it could be mounted anywhere.
You may be better off with the wired version.

I only have tried the one adapter listed. Since I found something that was a dedicated release I didn't pursue it any further.
