Anyone Using the KP with the 300/4 lens?

If anyone is using the 300/4 lens with the KP I would be interested in hearing your experiences with that combo.
I am considering purchasing that combo for birding and nature images. Since there is no camera store near me to actually hold and compare them I have to go by what I see online.
So, would love to hear your feedback on using this combo.
Thanks.

I知 using the KP with the DA* 60-250 and find the AF better than it was using this lens on the K-5II. That said use the large grip. You値l also want to add the battery grip for balance.

I use the KP with the DA*60-250 and the DA*300 for zoo shooting. If I add the DA 1.4x, then I use a monopod with a mini ball head, but otherwise, I don't have any balance problems shooting handheld. I use the large grip, but not the battery grip - I don't care for the added weight of the battery grip.

Yes, the KP plus the 300 DA* is a winning combo. I use it hand-held all the time, and don't worry about the grip, as even the small one is fine. And haven't felt the urge to spend $230 on the battery grip, as I finally decided I can swap out the small batteries as needed.

The DA 300* practically lives on my KP, with or without the 1.4x TC.

Thank you for responding to my 300/4 & KP question. I was hoping to find out how people where using this combo, whether or not they used a tripod, or, this was adequate for carrying and shooting handheld. It sounds like this combo works for hand holding. This is one of my major concerns that it could be too heavy for taking on hikes, etc. I am not a big tripod shooter. So, thanks much for your inputs.

Sounds like you love it! Good to know the 1.4TC works fine with it too. Thank you very much for your input.

I've also used the KP with the DA* 300 — although nearly always with the battery grip, as it's just easier to hold that way, particularly in portrait orientation.

I use the 300 F4 on my K5 and KP, mostly handheld. It is a great combination. For serious birding longer is better, but the1.4 AW TC works reasonably well, but does not feel as well

handheld. The KP sensor and 300mm resolution allows for quite significant cropping as well

Good luck and enjoy!

(Laughs). I was talking to a tour guide who said he once questioned a naive Chinese student why she was late returning to the bus. She showed the pic she'd taken with an Eastern Brown Snake she'd found, picked up and and held for a selfie.
