This seems very strange. Every once in a while someone posts to ask what the strange noise his camera makes is, and it's the ant-dust movement of the sensor, but that isn't the case here. I've never seen a camera do this and can think of no reason why it would do it.

Even if it doesn't affect the image quality I'd say that the camera is faulty. It doesn't cause problems now but it could get worse in the future and result in problems opening or closing the aperture.

Hi Jonathan. I really do not think it is the camera. Without lens, the only (quite faint) noise that can be heard is likely to be from the sensor shake.

And all working well, despite the noise on startup

The lens, at 1.8 has a depth of field which is just about right and not too shallow, colours and oof areas are well rendered and resolution is also very good.

Don't worry about the noise. You have a wonderful lens and camera, and you're getting great results.
