Wireless Remote for KP & K-70

I finally ordered the JJC JM-PK1 II Wireless Shutter Release for my KP and it works great. One of the things I hoped it would do is wake up the camera if it goes to sleep, and it does. Means I can just pre-setup the camera and wait until I am ready to take the picture.
I ordered mine from Amazon: amazon : JJC JM-PK1 II Wireless Shutter Release For PENTAX K-70 K70 replace PENTAX CS-310 With A&R Cleaning cloth : Camera & Photo?tag=pentaxforums-20& for $19.00, free shipping.

Cool! These hybrid RF/wired remotes are a real boon for situations where a wired remote won't work or for when IR is either not supported or under bright/hot conditions where the IR barfs. One definitely can't argue with the price either.

I bought something similar last year sold by Pixel and it has a timer too, they are handy as can be!! With the Pixel the hand set can double as a wired remote buy I still have not seen the need for a wired anymore.

I have a pistol grip which I can attach directly to the camera, or as the handle for a shoulder brace (gives a much steadier hold for telephoto shots) and when using either of these combos the wired connection between the pistol grip and the KP is very useful.

Also connect to the KP when I am using a tripod, although when I have plenty of time, will sometimes resort to using the Image sync app on my Android phone with wifi connection to the KP. This works well, as the app allows a number of camera settings to be set from within the app.

I have tried the Image sync app (latest version) with my KP and for me it only works about half the time. When it works, great, but then it suddenly stops working. I have finally given up with using the Image sync app.

I too, found Image Sync to be hincky. I like the idea of wireless for tripod use as to avoid any movement due to the dangling cord. I like that it appears to allow burst shooting (Image sync does not).

It looks feasible to attach a piece of black foam sheet to the receiver to veil the view finder from excess light.

When I remember to do it, I just lay a black cloth over the top of the camera, but even when I don't I have never experience what appears to be light coming in from the VF using any of my Pentax cameras. This was a problem with my old Canon 5D.

I bought a controller to activate the camera to take a photograph or several. This is an AODELAN – TRS-1 C6 timer with 2.5mm connector. With 2.5mm female and 3.5mm male adapter. I'll let you know if it works out well. I'm going to install this on my Pentax K-70.

I spent some time in the summer "playing" with ImageSync on an iPhone 6 and WiFi Commander on a W10 laptop, in conjunction with my K-70 and my KP.
The KP kept suffering from overheating, which was reported in the status screen of WiFi Commander but not, as I remember, in ImageSync, though the camera was prone to losing connection with both programs, so I assumed the reason was the same.
In cooler weather the KP was totally reliable.
The K-70 didn't have reliability problems, once connected ... it was establishing the connection that might take two or three tries, especially with ImageSync.
