How useful are the preset "macro" settings at U2 on the mode dial?

I don't have a lot of experience shooting macro (yet) so I'm wondering how useful the preset values for the dedicated U2 "Macro" function on the KP's mode dial are. What settings would you change (or have you changed) to get better macro photo's. I'll be using the DA100mm and DA35mm macro lenses.

I would say manual focus, live view, TAv mode, a shutter speed fast enough for your subject and a small aperture (f/16 or potentially much smaller) for sufficient depth of field would be good starting points...
