Ordered the Sigma 10-20mm F3.5

These sales will do me in. I've been wanting a very wide lens and was going to get the Pentax 12-24 eventually, but B&H is having a sale with $320.00 off for the Sigma 10-20mm 3.5 and I decided to go for it.
The one thing I forgot about was placing the order through the forum, to get credit for it here. If anyone else wants one, the sale price is $329.

^ Nice price. I have the older f4.5-5.6 & it's one of my favorite lenses.

Wow, thanks for sharing. I've been thinking about getting a wide lens to use when I take real estate pictures. I may have to pull the trigger at that price.

Excellent lens and good price

Yes, I have the older f4-5.6 lens.

I'm very impressed, usable without corrections from about 14mm. Otherwise run a correction in most photo processing software.
Bought it for Astrophotography but have used it inside for family gathering.

I want something wide(r). I always fancied the Sigma 8-16 and of course the ever popular 10-20 remains a consideration. The Pentax 10-17 was fun for a while but I'd prefer a rectilinear wide-angle so I sold it on.

I believe the OP is discussing the good price on the 10-20mm.

I'm in a similar conundrum to you though. 8-16 or 10-20?!

I have read that the 10-20/3.5 is closer to a 12-24, unlike the older, slower version. I don't really have any way to test this though as I have nothing else that wide. The only thing I could do is check the indicated focal length that gives the same field of view as my 15mm Limited and see if it's right in the middle of the zoom range or not. Or test it at 20mm to see how close the field of view is to a 24mm lens on one of my film cameras.

Here is some testing that compares the 3.5 version to the 4/5.6 version. It looks like the FOV is the same, or maybe a tiny bit wider on the newer version.

Before I made the purchase for the 10-20mm 3.5 I had looked at the older version along with the Pentax lens, but with the sale the newer version is much cheaper. And the test results I have read put the two Sigma's pretty close.

When I started thinking about UWA lens, I had pentax 12-24, sigma 10-20s and 8-16 into the mix. At that time most expensive one was pentax and older version of 10-20 was cheapest one.
I finally picked the latter as I was attracted in extreme perspectives reachable at 8mm and had an opportunity to buy it at a reasonnable price. I have no regret since then.

I've had the Pentax DA 12-24mm f/4 for some years but could not resist this price at B&H, which I took advantage of a few weeks ago, and have been enjoying the Sigma 10-20mm f/3.5 EX DC HSM since.

Both lenses are very fine, but the Sigma is wider and a half stop faster, so it narrows the difference to just a half stop under the very expensive and heavier new Pentax DA* 11-18mm f/2.8 DC WR lens, and with a wider zoom range. I've never had a FOV quite this wide, and find the WA from this lens to be extraordinary in its effect. The lens is also well-built and very well designed. Linear distortion is virtually nil at 15mm- a great outcome.

I'm addicted to ultrawides and have both Pentax zooms, but at the current price of the Sigma I couldn't resist, and it has really good, sharper than the Pentax 12-24 and notably wider (even compared to the 11-18).
