No `X` mode?

I have been reading the manual for the KP, and I don't understand how I use an external flash. Historically, there has been an `X` setting on the mode dial for setting the shutter speed to 1/180 and this mode would trigger the hotshoe, how does one accomplish this on the KP? Sorry if I am being dim... (pun intended)

Have you tried just to plug a flash to your camera and see what happens? You may be surprised to see that it works w/o the setting. Wouldn't that be a miracle?

X mode has been missing on other than flagship models in recent years for a long time. When a Pentax-brand or other flash supporting Pentax protocol is mounted, the camera will automatically limit shutter speed to X-sync or lower. The workaround with non-dedicated flash is to use M mode and stay below the X-sync speed (1/180s).*

Steve

* The "hot" shoe is always "hot", though it will not fire a flash above 1/180s. Although I prefer M mode for non-dedicated flash, the same is true for all other exposure modes.

Thanks, what i typically put on the hotshoe is a trigger for an external flash, i doubt either Godox or Yongnuo triggers (the ones I use) will be detected by the KP.

Actually, with my aftermarket flash triggers I think it would be a "miracle" haha.

Cactus triggers work with the KP And if you have a Pentax flash, you can use it as an external flash

Set the KP for wireless flash control
