Are you set to Auto Flash Discharge? If so, the flash will only work under dim conditions.

A few things could have gone wrong. Is the flash bulb kind of brown? Blown bulb. More likely, the circuit board for the flash has died. Can be serviced as it's a separate circuit board to the main camera board.

Are you using the electronic shutter? Flash will not work with it.

It's pretty rare for a flash to go out.

Just curious if you used flash a lot or not much at all Katfsh?

The flash output can be adjusted in steps from -2 EV to +1 EV. If you had the flash constantly set in the plus range could that have over-stressed it?

A similar thing happened to me years ago with my first Pentax dslr, the *istDL. What happened with me was when testing the camera one day I was firing off flash shots in rapid succession which apparently stressed the capacitor causing it to fail. It was an easy repair for the shop, just replaced with a new one. Lesson learned.
