First trip out using the KP

Got the KP on Friday, just in time for our planned trip to the Cleveland Zoo. Here are a few photos straight from the camera.

I'm not sure what the animal in the picture below the Bald Eagle is but it looks like it's just seen a ghost.

Nice job and congrats on the KP! I particularly like the bear photo. I didn't even know Cleveland had a zoo, if you ever get the chance get to the Columbus Zoo, it's one of the best.

Yeah, Cleveland zoo is pretty nice. I wonder how far the Columbus Zoo is from Cleveland. It was a 3 and a half hour drive for us so we made it an overnight trip with the kids. Plus it was our kids first time staying in a hotel and the elevator was a top contender for the best part of the trip......

I would like to upgrade my zoom lense to the PLM. These shots were all taken with my Sigma 70-300 that I bought 10 years ago for my K-r.

I was just gonna say, he looks like he doesn't like having his photo taken. I like the bear in this set as it feels natural versus enclosed.

If you like aquariums the one in the Cincy metro is nice. It is across the river in KY

Great set. Congrats on your first touch. It’s only natural to be glad with your results , confirming that the KP is indeed a very nice tool, as everyone here should say. I also enjoyed the one with the bear , the most.

I know some of those pictures were through glass or netting so I was surprised how well they came out. The bear was probably the only one with no barrier between me and the animal. I believe that is the ghost lemur.

Congrats in getting the unique and wonderful KP! Those are very good photos, especially considering the lens is just an old super-zoom from years ago, and many of these were taken at or near wide open. Weather obviously being a bright, sunny day also helped in keeping shutter speed up. The excellent bear photo also demonstrates the fine DR of the KP.

I wish I would have did the fine sharpening adjustment before taking these photos but I only got the camera the day before I left..

would that (fine adjustment) work really well across zoom range? I'm not too bothered to do it (only tried it for 2 or 3 primes) and still had best results at one distance while there was no improvement or even some softening when focused closer/further away). Also (I'm not pixel-peeping or even zooming but...) the fur/ feather detail looks really crisp to me on some of these and on the others I just focus on the mood and totally forget about detail
