I have noticed the same when taking pictures in harsh lighting situations like shooting from deep forest trail openings over sun-drenched oceanside cliffs or similar sorts of winter scenery with the KP. I've dialed in up to -3 EV or more on occasions even after trying all 3 AE modes. I will say my K-70 exhibits the same behavior but not to the same degree. I suppose some program line work might could tweak things a bit, but I've never found it to be a really great problem once I became aware of the behavior.
