Just bought Pentax's new GPS unit. Calibration going well.

However, the Unit's manual discusses an "electronic compass" and accessing that compass in the Rec. Mode menu.

I've gone thru the menus and haven't been able to find a path to reaching the compass.

I long ago installed Firmware Update 1.31, which I believe is the latest update for the KP.

Any ideas?

Thought I earlier had done a "compass" search in my .pdf version of the KP operating manual and come up with nothing.

If I did, I conducted the search incompetently. I see, now that "compass" appears 8 times in that manual and 7 times in Borque's KP ebook. "Astrotracer" also pops up several times in both books.

states compass should work (but not navigation) on KP...

I also just picked up the GPS2, works great other than I had to calibrate outside to get the compass to accurately work which isn’t an issue. I also have the GPS1 and curiously it calibrates inside the house just fine.

I had the same experience with the GPS 1 and 2. One would have expected the new to be more sensitive. Maybe it is in daily operation.
