FYI, Theta V will only do 5 minutes of 4K video before shutting down due to heat. It may last longer in cooler weather.

By comparison, the Garmin Virb 360 that I tested recorded 19 minutes before I stopped recording.
Just got my V today! I notice in the app's video settings that you can change the 4k movie settings from a 5 minute recording to 25 minutes. That's not the issue here, right?

Ah thanks for pointing that out! The published specs are confusing and the 5min/25min limits seem arbitrary. The Garmin Virb 360 didn't have a short limit, neither do my Lumix cameras shooting 4k

5 minutes of 4k video ends up being aroung 2GB, the max limit of certain file systems. Maybe that's why it's there-the V is using an older FAT32 file system.

Thanks! I had the Theta on the end of a selfie stick (or "monopod" if we're too cool for selfie sticks here) and held it in the crook of my left knee with my foot tucked under my other leg. I set the 5-second self timer and SPUN myself around in an office chair and then tried to hold as still as possible once the shutter fired.

I think the exposure was about 3 seconds.

Here are a couple more from today.

So far I would say the still image IQ (sharpness, rendering, dynamic range, true-to-life colors, what have you) is identical to the Theta S... BUT the transfer speed is INSANE. SO much faster than the S!! It must be thanks to those Android brains they put in it? The image transfers almost instantly with the V, whereas with the S, my phone's screen would go to sleep before the image transferred.

The V also seems to have much less pronounced stitching lines - again, I think due to an improvement in the "brain".

My nephew and I pretend that we have a sports talk show and put videos on YouTube. This was shot with the Theta V.

YouTube mangles the video; I can't wait for them to improve their delivery.

Ah ah . Not possible to have full screen display from the PF page. But once on Theta site, the 360 shot can be displayed wide, that's impressive.

Theta360.com is a little clunky for sharing, but it sure does "show" the images nicely and make it fun to interact with them. :-)

Would that mean websites require a 360 image viewer engine? I've heard that 360 displaying works on facebook?
