Getty Pro use of Ricoh Theta

I was reading up on how cameras with Wi-Fi have changed the way Getty does sporting events when lo and behold they're talking about their field guys all having a Ricoh Theta.

Every one of its field photographers now has access to and carries a Ricoh Theta handheld 360-degree camera — it's also tried Nikon ones — to capture an immersive panoramic view from the Australian Open courts and other events that Getty covers.

The article is here: Wi-Fi Has Changed The Way Getty Images Takes Photos | Gizmodo Australia and it's an interesting read. There's quite a bit about 360 images along with wi-fi so the recent 'Theta plus DSLR' images we've seen of late make more sense.

The Theta makes a lot of sense for journalism, IMO. When you want to capture everything quickly and easily, it's hard to beat.

You're probably right Adam. I don't know if it's the Theta again, but if you scroll through to just before the 1min mark I'd swear that's what is bolted on the outside of the car here too:

Thay could be a theta, or it could be a clamp. Not sure!
