We use the Richo Theta Z at our job to take Matterport 3D tours and Zillow 360 tours for our Real Estate clients. Matterport tours are those Doll-House views of the property. Zillow tours are easier to take and are just 360 degree tours of the properties. The other day I was taking pictures of an outside property, and a strong wind passed by that knocked the camera to the street with a loud Bang. The camera went through some carzy cycling, but after about 5 minutes it returned to normal ? The Theta Z is made from all metal and as small as it looks, is actually built pretty solidly.
There is a tiny scratch on the top of the camera, but that's about it ! The reason why the wind was so easily able to knock the camera down is because I use a Monopod such as this one:
https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1481937-REG/ifootage_401000063_cobra_...981& as a stand instead of a regular Tripod. The reason is the Monopod has a smaller footprint which allows me to go up stairs. Unfortunately, the Monopod is not very stable. You sneeze and the whole thing comes toppling down.
I recently purchased some sandbags, that I hope will help solve the problem, but they are expensive for what they are and come with NO sand. Yesterday I was taking pictures of this property in a new development area. I looked behind me and there were some homes still in the building stage. Infront of the homes were HUGE mounds of sand. I couldn't help myself ! I took a garbage bag out of the trunk of my car and filled it with sand. I got enough sand to fill a few of those sandbags but I only purchased two....
