ONLY IF you buy from a Pentax Pro dealer - otherwise (e.g, from Amazon) it's one year and with little or no opportunity to buy an extended warrantee.
Doesn't that go against European law? All electronic purchases have 2 year warranty. Surely Amazon are an authorised dealer.

European law is applicable when the trader is located inside the European Union. Many of the forum members here are from overseas (North America).
Inside the European Union are the legal guarantee from the trader and the (optional) manufacturer's commercial guarantee:
QuoteQuote:
Under EU law, within the legal guarantee period of two years, defective products must be repaired or replaced without any cost to the consumer.
The manufacturer's commercial guarantee for your computer has nothing to do with the legal guarantee, which is binding on the trader and lasts for two years.
Copied from these two links, which can be easily switched into another language by clicking and choosing fron "English EN":
FAQs - Guarantees and returns - Your Europe
Consumer guarantees, warranties, claims and returns - Your Europe

So it is possible and allowed that a manufacturer offers a longer commercial guarantee than the legal guarantee from the trader.

The second point is grey ware/market:
QuoteQuote:
Grey ware refers to the trade of a commodity through distribution channels that are not authorized by the original manufacturer or trade mark proprietor. Grey market products (grey goods) are products traded outside the authorized manufacturer's channel.

Amazon is an official store/retailer. You just have to make the purchase through the appropriate Amazon site, there's Australia, Canada, US, UK, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, Japan and the list goes on. Here are the regions
If bought as a new item sold by and Fullfilled by Amazon, you'll get the appropriate warranty for that region. That's why it's important (if you care about an official warranty) to purchase items from within your own region when using Amazon.
If I purchased a Japan market brand new KP, and had it shipped to Canada, I would have no warranty since it doesn't belong in this market. However, if I bought from the Canada site, I'd get the Canadian Manufacturers Warranty.

Yes. Under European law the minimum is two years regardless of what the manufacturer states. After brexit though, I imagine it'll be back down to one year in the UK if you don't buy from an authorised Pentax pro dealer, thereby bringing back the advantage of buying from them.

Sales tax is a pain in the sitter! My local Pentax pusher lists the K1ii for $2.500. A couple of years ago I scored a sweet deal on a silver KP for the bargain-basement price of $1.000, and just before the pandemic hit I managed to get my hands on a brand, spanking new, old K5IIs at the fire-sale price of $700. He originally wanted $800, but I managed to talk him down. As long as the K3iii is less than $2.400 I'm probably going to bite.

Now we know the MSRP: $US2000/€1999/£1899

More than three-quarters of respondents to the poll underestimated the launch price - even after Ricoh executives said (months ago) what it would be.

This is broadly consistent with the incidence of optimism bias in the population:

Across many different methods and domains, studies consistently report that a large majority of the population (about 80% according to most estimates) display an optimism bias.

Not me. As a card carrying pessimist, I say: Only pessimists can be pleasantly surprised.

I was the vote for $2,400.00

And I voted $1800. We were both a bit off.

I think I voted either $1900 or $2000. The actual price does not surprise me.

Hopefully it will come down a bit by years end...I can't swing $2K on a body, and I always like the Battery Grip on mine.

I got it spot on, though I'd be a lot happier if I'd gotten it wrong and it had been cheaper.

I imagine there's be some special offers for black Friday or christmas.
