Ok.... I've now read the manual..... researched SD cards and bought one.... watched all the Japanese videos.....what is one meant to do for the next three weeks?

I can't even stir Allen about all the special kits coming to Australia....

Given the numbers above.... looks like us pentaxians can say that .... "Leica... nah.... a bit too everyday for our tastes...."

But black premium ETA is TBA - grrr and I still don't understand how I came to buy one of these (good price, but)

I've decided to one-up you all by pre-ordering a K-3 IV! I imagine I'll be the first one to get this glorious camera.

(It'll probably also be the last SLR DP Review will ever review before they review the next one).

I might think about it if I see some (really) good discounts end of June? But wonder - K1 ii or K3 iii? Newer tech vs 50% increase in megapixels??

I concur, but I suspect it is because Ricoh do not have the manufacturing capacity to produce the KP and the K3 iii.

It might be a 50% increase in MP, but only 20% in resolution. Better to bear in mind difference in file sizes, FF will need less enlargement for final image viewing, DR and high ISO performance, Need to see independent reviews first either way. We do know how good the K1 ii is but also how big and heavy. I will be waiting for a while before I choose between the pair.

FWIW if you're only going to shoot landscapes the K1 is the far better choice IMO, still one of the very best available camera's for landscapes, and that includes current camera's costing twice as much as the Pentax FF. If or when Pentax upgrades the K1 line then I'll consider what they offer. Right now it's not even a rumor, while the K3 III is real and now.

What the new Pentax APS-C does is fill a current gap in their camera lineup for action, quickly moving wildlife, and indoor events, things a lot of us are interested in. Just my opinion.

K-1 and K-1ii are *the* landscape DSLRs. With awesome single-exposure DR and pixel-shift resolution, nothing else even comes close (except for Pentax medium format)

Don't forget travel/street as a genre for which the K-3 iii could be the winner. If I'm driving, I don't care so much. (I'm probably bringing my 645D anyway if I'm driving all the way.) For flying, give me the K-3 iii and my existing APS-C glass over the K-1 ii any day.

I think buying one makes you feel younger.... the excitement, reckless abandonment of more responsible financial things and the slight selfishness all points toward youth.

Unfortunately, having committed to a K3III.... there has been no youthfull improvement to either my waste or hair line. Possibly I need to buy a lens as well to get a benefit there.....
