K3III: focus bracketing?

Does Pentax K3III feature focus bracketing (stacking)? I briefly searched through the user manual but couldn't find it. If not, it would be nice that Ricoh includes such feature either by firmware updates (in Kp, K1II or newers models). Could be useful for macros / landscapes shots where more DoF is wanted.

There's exposure bracketing, depth of field bracketing, and motion bracketing. I don't believe there is focus bracketing or anti-alias bracketing. The latter was introduced to the K1 as a firmware update, so both could appear later.

Which bracketing exactly? Anti-alias bracketing? I use K-1 almost 5 years but did not know at all about this type of bracketing. Could you provide some info? How to enable it to try? Thank you.

Go to the INFO screen on the K1, 3rd row, 4th column: The AA filter simulator. Using the rear dial, you have the following options:

Off; Type 1; Type 2; Bracketing (2 images); Bracketing (3 images).

It's also available via the Camera 4 menu screen, top item.

This was added in firmware Version 1.30. See here for details.

Anti-alias bracketing is covered on page 82 of the K-3 iii manual.

My K-3 has AA bracketing so it was available prior to the K-1.

Different bracketing modes are covered from p. 67, and focus bracketing is not available, it seems (while DOF and Motion Bracketing are, which strike me as nice options). The AA Filter Simulator is dealt with on p. 83 of the K-3 III manual.

What is "motion bracketing"? Like shutter speed bracketing?

DoF bracketing is a good thing to have. The Pentax K-5 had it (aperture bracketing), but Ricoh removed this function on the K-3. At the time, I used the aperture bracketing of the K-5 occasionally but never had great use for it because 1) of the subjects I was shooting, and 2) apsc didn't need it as much as full frame (Pentax K-1). Now I have more experience, and I feel like aperture bracketing is lacking on the Pentax K1 and K1 II.
DoF bracketing would also be nice to have on the K1, a simple implementation such as set a series of AF points to focus each frame would already be a great feature.

Even cooler would be automated AF fine tune such as per Nikon.

There are two options here:
  1. Save a sequence of shots taken with slightly different focus distances;
  2. Take these shots, but then combine them in-camera to yield a single image with enhanced DoF.

The first would give you a choice of shots from which you could choose the best (like standard exposure bracketing), or allow you to focus-stack in your favourite processing tool (like post-processing HDR).

The second would require far more processing power, and presumably time over which the camera is locked up.

I would be happy to just have the first.

It was added to the K3 in the V1.02 firmware update.

If this were added on the K-3III, it surely would have been on the feature list at some point. Part of the problem, at least in terms of implementation, is with allowing arbitrary steps to support the various use cases for stacking; noting, of course that such is usually done using automated rail hardware. (That last might provide some explanation why in-camera support is not offered.)
