Hadn't noticed that the sun had already set a few minutes before I encountered those flying around some trees. Had seen some start from a church not far from the spot before, but never there. No idea what species, but perhaps someone knowledgable could id them with those pictures?

K-3 III with DA* 300 at f/4, developed with DxO PL 6 with DeepPrimeXD noise reduction at -100 noise model, pushed one stop, shadows +50, full crops.

Nicely done ! they aren't easy to catch. What was the ISO setting on those ? (just curious)

Thanks! Though they ARE cropped to the max. My eyes and the ooc jpegs showed just black silhouettes against a dark blue sky, but there was a little bit more that pushing everything could show.

Those were taken in TAv with 1/1600 s and f/4, with exposure compensation set to -1/3 which resulted in an ISO of 4000 for the first and 6400 for the other two.

referencing Franc's Water Birds

This housefinch taken in California with my K3 - DA*60-250 (at 250) happens to be one of my 99 year old mother's favorites of all the bird pictures I've taken. I plan on showing her your much better examples of bathing beauties, Franc.
