Nice! I must take a trip out to Mildura and check out the area. I've been through Mildura several times, but never had time to look at the national parks and reserves in the area. I could probably add a bunch of species to my list.

Nice! No shortage of detail there. You're definitely getting the best out of that 55-300.

FWIW... this is how retired people set up their K3III.... you take it on a honey moon (for a week) to a reserve that has quiet bird hides (Gluepot Bird Reserve in Australis Mallee country)..... add spicy pumpkin samosa's with home made chilli jam (have an oven in vehicle), expresso coffee (have an expresso maker in vehicle) then finish with fruit danishes and lots of time.

Gluepot has 5 or so bird hides with elevated water points for them. Life is tough.
Man, you sure know how to live the birder life!! I like it!

I think there may be several of us needing 'counselling' after reading your post.

Just coffee and samosas. Although with all that espresso he's drinking, he can't be spending that much time in the bird hide.

Great shot! They are such beautiful birds! I tried going out west near Griffith to photograph one with the K3, but didn't find one.

I cannot believe that you posted this. It is like a magician revealing how the tricks are done. You have just destroyed the image of all us retired members as being fit, healthy, active and adventuresome folks traipsing through the wilderness to get that perfect shot. We were admired for our fortitude. Now it will have to be for our laid back approach to life only..
