FWIW... this is how retired people set up their K3III.... you take it on a honey moon (for a week) to a reserve that has quiet bird hides (Gluepot Bird Reserve in Australis Mallee country)..... add spicy pumpkin samosa's with home made chilli jam (have an oven in vehicle), expresso coffee (have an expresso maker in vehicle) then finish with fruit danishes and lots of time.

Gluepot has 5 or so bird hides with elevated water points for them. Life is tough.

Fruit Danish, for a minute I thought they were Balfour's pasties
But no half round side.

Here is couple shots from me.
DFA*70-200

DFA 28-105

DA 10-17 HD

About JPEG or RAW. Now I always shoot raw, just because it i so much better. IF I'mnot going to fiddle much with PP, then jpeg is fine..

Damp Tufted Titmouse!

Tried DCU 5 to process a DNG. It certainly ain't PhotoLab 4 but it will have to do till they finish their camera profiling.

Tail Gunner's Station!

SOOC JPEG with Signature added in DXO PhotoLab 4
Cramped quarters! These were brave guys indeed. The life expectancy of a B-17 Tail Gunner over Europe during World War Two was four missions.....or about two weeks.

Not the best photo but I think this guy is a Western Wood-Pewee, if so this bird is a first for me. Difficult exposure, all of a sudden he was there, I got the shot and he was gone. No getting things just right, Bam he was gone. I would have got the shot with my K-5 maybe but focus most probably would have been much worse than this.

I've seen a bunch of Red Wing Blackbirds in my day but never one with markings like this.

I think I've been capable of something like this for years but I finally have a camera capable of something like this. Thank you Pentax.

It took me over half an hour to get this close to this bird. After he made the nab he looked directly at me (he knew I was there but he also knew the catfish was there) and flew. I got some nice shots of him in the air but I wanted to see him eat that fish.

That's an impressive amount of shadow detail!

I agree. This camera is about more than just shooting action.
