I cannot believe that you posted this. It is like a magician revealing how the tricks are done. You have just destroyed the image of all us retired members as being fit, healthy, active and adventuresome folks traipsing through the wilderness to get that perfect shot. We were admired for our fortitude. Now it will have to be for our laid back approach to life only..
I though long and hard about coming out... but we are family here... so I laid it all bare. Off course, what happens on the forum stays on the forum. I did visit another bird hide today (there are 5).... I am renaming them as I go.... todays was lasagna and beer hide.... with some albert cake.... but you'd have to be local to know what that is.

They say you have to suffer for your art..... luckily for me it is just a hobby.

Great shot! They are such beautiful birds! I tried going out west near Griffith to photograph one with the K3, but didn't find one.

Well done! It's a Grackle, I think?
Common grackle......I see mostly boat tailed grackles here...

Cool! I saw lots near Parris Island years ago. They reminded me of Currawongs, except for the iridescent feathers, which are more like ravens.

You'd have to ask a certain English billionaire about that! Nice shots of the tractor. It seems much easier to get really sharp images from the K3iii.

I've been able to take a few. AF seems great, even in low-ish light.

Last week I had my K-3 iii for my first debut but did not get use of this new beast.

This week I have another chance to test out again while waiting my son doing badminton, I did not take any birds, high speed object photos. I went to the Banjo Paterson Park and took some landscape. I did some minor adjustment on the profile in DCU.

Those photos took by FA 24 star 2

I'm going to have a nap, then attempt to get some photos with Astrotracer. I had to RTFM to find out how to change the exposure time (with the wheel, not the menu) and sadly it took me a while to figure out where the self timer was hidden (behind something that said "off").

Anyway, the excessively bright moon allowed me to see the colour of my car, and allowed the camera to see the colour of the hills.

As I've noted before, kangaroos are particularly difficult to get sharp focus on.

Example of the K-3 III sorting out the bird (Marsh Wren) from the vegetation using medium active area and my DA*300mm lens and DA 1.4x TC.

Doing my usual battery of tests regarding knowing the cameras limitations for specific situations.
This is about recovery. I shot this in highlight weighted metering (which works perfectly) then recovered what I could in Affinity Photo.
The files from this camera are very easy to work with and pull detail from.
The first image I grabbed from my original facebook post since that file is the jpeg from my phone.
The second image is what I recovered from the raw of the same image.

Here is my DR test image. I made sure that I got clouds with highlights right. and then lifted shadows in post. I actually think it is as good, or even sligtly better than my good old K-1. Colours are so nice!

DFA 15-30

and one with DFA*70-200

Does the old tractor still go? It looks like the radiator hoses have been renewed recently but then again, the rear tyre looks flat
