Venerable it may be, Matt, but still a very capable and useful lens, as your photo shows (particularly when viewed on Flickr). I wonder if it will be given the PLM treatment at some point, like the DA55-300.

Wow, that's much more than "a little excitement".

Great action series, great job for capturing the sense of suspense in the air! I like the facial expression of the runner and the catcher in the second last and the last shot.

the " models " were great to work with and we got it all on the first take

Seriously, in my limited experience, photographing base ball, just like watching the game live, really present only a few " great " action opportunities and unless you are ready they are easy to miss

anticipation of " expected " action can be key - play at first, pick off attempts. stealing a base, double plays, play at home

[ the AF caught the safety net severally times and did not focus on my intended targets ]

and yes it is easy to lose yourself in the camera and miss the overall game
