This was to be the initial "grab shot" but the bird was shyer than I expected and flew, so I had to make the most of it. I was surprised how much cropping I was able to do.

Black-crowned Night - Heron. DA*300mm and 1.4xTC - still not ready for the weight and bulk of the D FA 150-450

I really like mine

but the weight can get to me

I almost always use it handheld
