What distances indoors? the 20-40Ltd f2.8-f4 is one option for area shots. For portraits, etc, other Ltds might be a better cup of tea. I've used a Sigma 17-50 indoors, but it is big and fairly hefty for any event sort of venue where you are dealing with jostling crowds.

So, as usual, it depends!.
I tend to do candid close-ups from a distance ( if you get my drift) and without a flash. I mainly rely on two lenses: SMC DA 1:35-5.6 18-135 ED AL (IF) DC WR and SMC DA* 1:2.8 16-50 ED AL (IF) SDM. The first produces rathe grainy images; the second no longer has auto focus but is a better piece of glass (IMO). If I had the money, I would by an 85mm. For now, I am considering a used 20-40, a used 55 1.4, and a used Tamron 17-50.

Thank you.

Cheers,
Loyd

With the Irix 11mm Blackstone. Liking the contrast and color richness. These are SOOC. First one cropped only.

I am considering a used 20-40, a used 55 1.4, and a used Tamron 17-50. Can anyone tell me which pairs best with the K3III for indoor shots of people sitting at tables? And what about camera settings? Most of my photos, like most of the shots I see on this forum, are taken outdoors. My favourite lens continues to be the 150-450.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Are there any forums that specifically discuss the K3III for indoor use?

Cheers,
Loyd

Based on the choices you list, I'd go with the fasted aperture indoors. My 16-50PLM is f2.8 and it can do well indoors but you don't have that one. Is the Tamron also a fast lens? If so, that may be good because of the versatile range. Finally, the 20-40 is no slouch either and it has a fast aperture wide open. Since I am familiar with my 20-40 I can say it takes good photos but the range 20-40 is not as versatile as something like a 17-50.

p.s. I wish I had a 150-450... Someone had one for sale out here for half price. I wish I had jumped at it...

What about the DA 70/2.4 limited? Good portrait length, decently fast and very sharp.
